Italian Sgraffito Frames
Sgraffito: (Italian) scratched away
Sgraffito is used to refer to any technique where a surface is scratched to reveal what’s underneath. Ceramics artists may recognize it as a surface decoration technique. In framing, it dates back to the Renaissance.
This technique is still used today in the framing industry, and we here at Paris Frameworks on Madison would love to see you in the shop with your artwork to see how we can use one of these lovely frames on your piece. Stop by and check us out.
