Digital Photo Restoration

Sometimes clients bring in antique photos or documents for framing that haven’t fared well at the hands of time. In such cases, we will have these photos or documents digitally restored to bring them back to life and get them frame-ready. The original is first scanned and expertly retouched. Then it is printed on archival paper in its original or in a custom size. Check out these before and after shots.

The photo on the left is a small, old and faded photograph with wrinkles on top and bottom. The restored photo on the right does not show wrinkles and has enhanced contrast so it doesn’t appear faded, yet still has that antique feel. The “new photo” was printed on archival cotton paper in a larger size than the original.

To frame this newly-restored restored and treasured photo of our client’s grandfather, we used a 12 play mat to enhance its depth, with museum glass to protect the photo and improve the clarity. A simple hand-made dark brown walnut frame created a more contemporary feel our client was looking for.
